Atlantyca Entertainment and Shanghai Translation Publishing House sign an agreement renewing the rights for 33 books in the famous children’s detective series by Sir Steve Stevenson

An important meeting was held last Thursday, March 14th, at Atlantyca Entertainment’s prestigious headquarters in Corso Magenta, Milan, between the Chinese delegation from the Shanghai Translation Publishing House and Atlantyca’s Foreign rights Department. It saw the renewal of the publishing rights to 33 titles of the Agatha Mistery IP – about 2M copies sold worldwide – for which Shanghai Translation has been the Publisher in China since September 2020. Signing the agreement were Mr Ma Sheng, editor-in-chief and Claudia Mazzocco, Atlantyca Entertainment CEO.

Members of the delegation, made up of Huang Yuning, deputy editor-in-chief, Weng Wujing, rights manager, and editor Zhong Jin, are in Italy to visit their partners, negotiate agreements, learn more about the Italian publishing market and the children’s book market in particular, as well as to promote their Chinese children’s books in Italy.

Agatha Mistery is the celebrated mystery book series, for young readers from the age of 8 upwards, written by author Mario Pasqualotto under the pseudonym of Sir Steve Stevenson. Published in Italy by De Agostini, it has sold more than 700,000 copies, reaching worldwide sales of about 2 million copies, as well as being translated into 27 languages. The series, which began in 2010, has been a great international success and 35 titles have already been published to date, as well as 11 special titles and new titles due out in 2024.
